VPN

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It is a network technology that enables users to securely access institutional resources over public networks such as the Internet.

Encrypted virtual connections established through the HÜ/VPN service allow users to access services available within HÜ/NET even when they are outside the university campus. These services may include access to software servers, licensed applications and software licensing services.

When the HÜ/VPN service is used outside the campus, a virtual HÜ/NET IP address is automatically assigned to the user’s computer. This IP address enables access to services that are available only within the HÜ/NET infrastructure.

When the HÜ/VPN connection is activated, an encrypted tunnel is established between the user’s computer and HÜ/NET. Although the connection is encrypted, users are advised to follow standard internet security practices, including the use of firewalls and keeping antivirus software up to date.

VPN usernames and passwords are personal credentials and must not be shared with anyone.

Hakkari University Department of Information Technologies provides VPN services to academic and administrative staff in order to ensure secure access to HÜ/NET resources from outside the university campus.
